The White Duck Venture, is taking place in the oriental lands of the Nature (Altea) Plane. The land of Tanachi is a Japanese scenario. In the present 12 clans dominate the social life of much of the world that lies enclosed behind the great wall.

The group is constituted of a Iaijutsu Master and his cousin a Wu Jen, a Martial Artist, a Ninja and a Barbarian.

As the story unfolds the people in Tanachi have just started to recover from the shock that the central clergy of Amaterasu has bascially submitted the whole land into legal foreign submission. This secular-spiritual crisis has led much of the upper and middle classes of society to seek more esoteric forms of fulfillment. This has been referred to as the Scandal of Amaterasu, and occurred barely two years ago.

Now, two clans are moving pawns across a chessboard to dominate trade in Tanachi, as teh Samurai clans look on, and new independent ones try to rise.
